A FORETASTE OF THE LAND OF HIAWATHA
I haven’t seen many sunrises in my life, but they had a beautiful one here in the Far Far North, 5:10 à.m.
I woke up to this one, looking through a narrow opening in the curtain.
It was but a promise for all the heavenly colors I’ve been seeing all day.
“In the drowsy, dreamy sunrise
In the never ending summer
He it was who sent the wood birds
Sent the wild goose, waves, and water
Filled the skies with haze and vapor
Filled the air with dreamy softness.”
By the way, it’s after 10:00 at night, and is still pretty light outside, this far past Midsummer.
More Gitche Gumme tomorrow. I sleep wrapped in beautiful blues and greens, waters, sky, and forest – indeed, God is good to make this foretaste of Heaven’s beauty appear right in front of us.
