“WHAT’S GOING ON IN AMERICA?!”

June 1, 2017

As a former teacher,   I clearly remember the problem when a gang of little girls start a whispering campaign against someone they don’t like –

girls 1

      –   and then come to me tattling about all the bad things their enemy does!   There is NOTHING like the  vehemence of their rather sincere accusations  — which are nearly always false!     Doesn’t matter;  they’re enjoying themselves.

Men –  I mean boys do it too.

girl boy tattling

It gets annoying after a while.

I’m going to “lift” a sentence from the beginning of the previous post:

I see there has been a lot of hysterical,  illogical,  non-scientific   non-legal pronouncements coming out of Mainstream Media,  Social Media,  and Hollywood actors and actresses.

I guess that works.    I was away from news sources for a while – and then I came back.  It’s almost astonishing,  not quite but almost,  that people in the entertainment-news media who want to be taken seriously are still talking about the Story Without Substance.

The story that every official keeps saying   “there is no evidence for this.”

I made a quick list of phrases  used to apparently prolong this Story Without Substance.

Ready?  Here is a partial list of words and phrases that give you clues about how false/fake the story is:

a new report charges . . .
possibility
U.S.   officials briefed   (but on what?)
unnamed sources
allegedly told   the idea was brought up . . .
it was suggested
unverified       (unverified reports, rumors,   etc)
no reply to our questions  (no reply implies . . .?)
recent reports of possible collusion
news came via anonymous letter
anonymous officials reviewed the letter
looking for suggestions of
the contact was not identified
“reportedly”
supposed meeting
latest claim says  (…  bla bla bla …)
the alleged request for . . .
could be coming from
nine sources say . . .  (unknown unnamed sources)
checking into . . .

Recognize these words and phrases?    It’s just a partial list,  you probably know more.

It’s like psy-ops.   You are encouraged by these words and phrases to assume there is some substance to the story that the President or his election committee or his presidential campaign or his family or his . . .   (fill in the blanks)  have colluded with the Russians to defeat the Poor Sick Lady who blames the Russians for her defeat (among other reasons).

No wonder I read in foreign presses that America seems to have lost its mind;   “what is going on over there”?

Not  one fact;  but the accusation persists.

They must be having fun.    Pathetic.   Immature.   Annoying.

DEAR YOUNG PEOPLE: THREE WORDS

June 1, 2017

After today’s announcement about our country’s non-participation in the Paris Accords,  I see there has been a lot of hysterical,  illogical,  non-scientific pronouncements coming out of Mainstream Media,  Social Media,  and Hollywood actors and actresses.

I trust  there are many among us with love for our planet,  love for our country  (The United States of America),  a love for science and invention,  and a can-do attitude.    Therefore,  I give you,  the up-and-coming generation,  THREE WORDS:

Zero.   Point.   Energy.

BIG BANG

Zero.  Point.  Energy.   (it goes by other names and there are variations)

_______________________________________________________

  1.    It’s all around you;  you just have to find a clever  way to get it.

2.   It’s challenging, dangerous work;  don’t get killed.

3.    “Fossil” Fuels  are not made from “fossils.”    The planet isn’t about to run out of  smooshed dinosaurs – and there is no such thing as peak oil.  Therefore,  you have plenty of time for this project.

4.   “Solar power”  and “wind power”  require more electricity  (generated from coal, etc.)   to create its electricity  than what these techniques can  even generate.      So far.    It may take a very long time to make this technology viable.

5.   It will soon become apparent to all just how lethal nuclear power plants are.   It is the most deadly way humans have ever invented in order to simply boil water and generate steam.

The three words:  Zero Point Energy.    The old-timers will laugh at you;    but you will be on a righteous mission and you’ll save the planet.

Just keep your newly discovered technology:  Open Source!

A BRIEF COMMERCIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

May 9, 2017

(I have these once in a while,   commercial announcements.   Usually they’re about something I’ve just found out about and am delighted that it exists. )

wi fi jiggly  This has been me for the last few weeks,  sitting at my computer with a tangle of RF fields around me.   I know that’s a cell phone signal strength photo,  but it feels the same on my body.  It hurts if I’m there too long.

So there’s something  wrong with the electrical fields in my house which magnifies signal strength and electrical surges.    My TV got zapped once again, and I’ve been without television- watching for almost three weeks.  (It’s all being repaired right now as I’m writing, so I’ll soon have a TV again…..)

However,  what I learned,  being without all the entertainment-news that the alphabet channels present to us,  is that nearly all the news is  not  accurate,   or it’s  distorted, or flat-out not true.    And overwhelmingly against the president (and any conservative, somewhat Republican, viewpoint).

(Now I don’t think that President Trump is any kind of Savior for our country.  Maybe.   But likely not.   It’s just that the alternative would have been so destructive to all of us that we’ll settle for what President Trump might be able to do . . . )

A recent study, however,  by some independent communications outfit showed that 89% of all news programming showed President Trump in a negative light –  nasty things said about him;  suspicions;  innuendoes;  criticisms;  opposing views;  supposed errors;  and accusation after accusation after accusation – without any supporting proof.   The American public and the world is being trained to “hate” Trump and all he stands for.

Check out, for instance,  the “images”  of Donald Trump that search engines will give you.  (See below.)

I’ve gotten used to hearing a news segment and then mentally “ducking”  for the anti-Trump onslaught that is sure to come.

So,  without my TV,  I’ve been “forced” to watch the news over the Internet –  and there is a LOT there to choose from!!   Streaming everything from every country you’d want!  It takes only a few moments of watching local news (on the Internet)  to  remember how awful the Mainstream Media News is.

So here’s my “commercial announcement”  —     OAN news.  Streaming 24/7* on YouTube.   You’ll get a few short  commercials between news segments,  but you’ll also get some well-done segments showing some great event in American history — and you don’t even have to “duck”  for the cynical comments that would normally follow.  Just really nice informative spots that showcase something good in American history.

OAN   –   One America News:     news without the attitude adjustment.

.*    Actually I found it by searching on YouTube for “F o x N e w s  s t r e a m i n g.    Then I clicked on the Fox News Streaming 24/7 –  and got  OAN news.  Maybe there are other ways to find it.

Try it out.   What a relief not to have to listen to how you are supposed to “feel”  about each news segment.

MEAT IN THE MODERN WORLD

December 2, 2016

Or maybe I should call this post:  MEAT BECAUSE OF THE MODERN WORLD.

Meet my meat:

my-beef

They’re fine (Scottish) Highland cattle, big shaggy things.

Contented:

my-meat-contented

They do well in  pastures here in the Far North,  and their owners let them graze  on grass during their whole lives.    Even when it’s time for their lives to end,  they are not “force fed”  vitamin and chemical laden grains to  add marbling (streaks of fat) to their muscles in their last six weeks,   which is what happens to a lot of “grass-fed”  cows.

I know their owners personally.   I don’t mean they’re “friends of mine,”  but I have come to know them, talk to them,  and respect the way they handle their herd and the way they handle the meat and bring it to  market.

(From an informative flyer):

my-meat-source

They’ve patiently answered all my questions and taught me a lot about what makes good meat.

I’m a meat-eater.    It’s in my genes.    My gene pool has been traced back 11,000 years (if you can trust the  gene-tracing company) —  and my family certainly came from a protein oriented culture (deep cold-water fish like herring and haddock and cod;  eels,   trout, salmon,   fish eggs, seals, walrus, and the occasionally bear and reindeer. )

So I’ve always taken meat for granted.

Until I learned how “modern”  industrial cattle factories have corrupted the meat supply and turned “meat” into something unwholesome – and not really very tasty, either,   compared to these:

my-meat-looking-at-you

It’s more expensive to buy a cut of real meat.    I know that.   But you can really get away with eating less.   You’re satisfied with  a smaller piece that is very tasty and full of nutrition.

I know this modern world and all its broken promises.     You have to pay more, sometimes much more,  just to keep even with the quality of the past.    That’s the challenge.

It’s “quality of life.”      Sometimes we just have to slow down and pay attention to the Quality of our lives.

We actually honor our Creator when we take care of the body He has created for us.    And so . . .   food is  a moral issue.

BLOODY FUNNY – BLOODY ODD

September 20, 2016

I don’t think I’m swearing in that title.      I don’t usually.

But I  really am going to talk about blood and bloody stuff tonight –  so please don’t read if you need to stay comfortable . . .   and uninformed.

Good-bye:

teardrop-green

So first a couple attempts at humor.  One guy created  this chart to make his point,  that the Western World has changed, advanced,  corrected its faults, and become better throughout time.

comparison-islam-thru-history

And then there’s this bit of humor . . . showing how difficult it is to understand a culture so different from our own:

sam-umbrellas

I mean no ill-will, and this is actually rather self-mocking,  self-deprecating humor.

Except –  it’s not so funny for the women who have to live like that.   Recently some women were allowed to be nurses and work at a hospital:

sam-nurse-cover

They were allowed to be nurses as long as they covered up everything but their hands,  and they had to prove that they weren’t wearing nail polish.   That’s why the ladies’  hands are being held up and outward.   So the men can inspect them.

See a similarity between the two photos?   When does “humor”  lose its funny-ness?

Deliberate Misdirection:

We get into serious territory.   If you looked into the issues behind this weekend’s “news” stories,   you may have discovered more serious information about the situation that is developing rapidly in the United States.  But if you heard about the he said-she said “drama”  about who said it was a “b*  om * b”   (they both did)  but if he said it, he was being “irresponsible and reckless”  and when she said it,  she was being “steady.”

Remember hearing that?    That was the entertainment-news media misdirecting our attention – away from any serious analysis of the problem.    Ha ha.    Stay comfortably funny.

We were also told that the timing of these latest attacks is very serious because the UN in New York will be hosting its periodic meeting of the General Assembly.

Where the Global-Socialist Rulers of the world plan their plots.    And assessing their use of their latest  cultural manipulation tool:   let’s call them “refugees,”  so nice people will be fooled.

Inside the UN  building:

un-prayers

The Barack Hussein person in the United States just celebrated Eid al-Adha – in the White House, with a nice, big dinner  (at our expense).     I hope the entertainment-news media explained what the “celebration”  is all about.

Because they celebrated it in a huge American baseball stadium on the other side of our country:

american-ball-stadium

This is the “bloody” part of the title of this post.   Because after the prayers and ceremonies were over,  they began to sacrifice animals there,  according to reports,  according to custom.

Because that’s what is done this time of the year:

sac-animals-280

(I’ve kept the pictures small.   They’re really quite  overwhelming.   The Daily Mail from the UK gets the credit for these photos, taken in various countries.)

Animals are sacrificed “in honor of”  Abraham’s near-sacrifice of  his son.

Now,  Christianity is all about the sacrifice of Jesus,  the Christ,   the Son of God,  which broke the power of sin over us.   All the sacrifices that were spoken of (and performed) in the Old Testament pointed to Christ’s one-time holy and efficacious self-sacrifice.  But Moslems do not believe that Christ died on the Cross, so . . . .

Streets run with blood.   And this time,  this year,  in one large islamic city,   it rained –  washing so much blood away that the streets turned into red rivers.

rivers-of-blood

So from the humorous “umbrella people,”  to the odd coverings on nurses,   to the march of Islam everywhere,   in every continent,  in every government, even directing the world’s  “government,”   we go from humorous to serious,  because the “march” is really happening.

There is a serious situation developing right now, as we saw during the knifings and explosions and shooting of policemen in our country this past weekend.

The “situation”  is called  dhimmitude.

Better look that up.    You need knowledge in order to make goo ddecisions,   but  I’m not “sanguine”  about the knowledge of my fellow-countrymen.

And pardon the pun.

JULY IN AUGUST IN HISTORY

August 2, 2016

No,  this isn’t a hot-summer-weather report.    It’s that “next post”  that I referred to in the last post.

The information starts in the early 17th century.   In the Americas.    Each nation or empire had a king;  each colony was loyal to that king.    And yet . . .  yet  somewhere in the future it was predicted that nations would no longer have kings and queens, or at least a functioning monarchy.

Nations would be “republics.”   Like Ancient Greece attempted.    Like Ancient Rome tried for a short time.   A form of government that promised so much but left so much open to corruption and failure – and misery for the citizens of the republic.

And worse.   There were more predictions.    In the future,  three hundred years into the future,   religion,  the foundation and strength of every civilized nation,  would be disparaged.  Out of favor.  Rejected.   Mocked.     There would be a great crumbling and corruption of the Church itself.   It seemed insane.   An incomprehensible future.

A great apostasy would occur.    All  the new republics would one day become the enemy of religion.  Their official policy  would be to keep religion out of the public sphere,  to destroy religion.

Parents would stop teaching their children about the Good God and about our salvation.  A great number of evil   “books”   would  flood the streets of the cities,  disrupting society,  degrading manners,   corrupting adults and even children.

The century in which this would occur (begin) would be the 20th century.

These prophecies were written down,  lost, and then rediscovered “at a time when they would be needed,”  which turned out to be the late 19th century —  just  in time to warn people of what was coming, and perhaps to become mobilized, motivated to turn away this disastrous century of the future.

The warning had come from Heaven, and Heaven was not unaware that people remained indifferent to the fate of future generations.  (That would be us.)

And so,  in 1917 — almost too late to stop this disastrous century from developing —  Heaven visited Fatima, Portugal.   Our Lady, the Mother of Christ,  spoke words of warning to three little children — three who had not yet been corrupted.  Three little children who were so innocent and unlettered,  that they did not even know who or what a “Russia” was.

But they did report to those in authority over them that Our Lady has warned that if the world does not repent and turn back to God,   that “Russia”  would spread her errors.

“If my requests are heeded, Russia will be converted, and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church. The good will be martyred; the Holy Father will have much to suffer; various nations will be annihilated.”

And to prevent that from happening,   the pope along with the bishops of the world,  will have to pick a day in which to consecrate “Russia”  to the Immaculate Heart.

(Catholic stuff –  that just seems to have come true.)

Russia will then convert to the Catholic faith –  and the world will have a period of peace.

Satan, the devil,   fought off this consecration with a period of Diabolical Disorientation.

And now we’re all mixed up.

We call it Political Correctness,  but what lies behind this is Diabolical Disorientation.  We are dizzy and disoriented, just as the Bible says happens to all those who reject God:  “their intellects are darkened.”

So,  right?    Have the prophecies come true?

Here’s another one, closer to our time, but same message.   I had hoped this year to write on the 13th of every month, in remembrance of the six months that the children at Fatima were visited. . . .  I missed July.

On July 13th, 1917,  the children were visited again.   They were told several things, some “secrets,”   but also, suddenly,  the Lady opened up her hands and rays of light came down to the earth and penetrated the earth and revealed such a frightful scene that they all later  reported they were scared half to death.

Hell

A deep, large, and wide hole had appeared,  full of fire, and worst of all it was full of something like lumps of burning coal, black, but on fire,  and in the shape of horrible distorted animal figures . . .  and moving up and down in the currents of the heat were distorted, burning human-like figures,   which were crying out in pain and agony and despair  . . .tormented by the  horrid beastly entities,  but the human souls could not die.

The children could bear to see no more.

But from then on the three young children doubled and tripled their efforts to pray for souls, and to do penance on behalf of those who do not believe in God,  and to plead with God to “lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need.”

So that’s some of what happened on July 13th,  1917.    It verifies the seriousness of the prophecies of the early 16th century, when Our Lady  (Our Lady of Good Success)  came to the Americas,  to warn.

The messages — all the secrets — were especially meant for us to know today.  Because if we don’t know about them or do anything about them,  The Errors of Russia would indeed spread.

What are some of these Errors?

Communism is an atheistic ideology that ultimately denies God’s natural order and natural law, which God inscribed on the hearts of men. Denying God, Communism attaches divinity status to the Party and to the State. As such, Communism transfers all personal responsibility to the Party and totalitarian state. Denying natural law, Communism rejects the basic rights to private property, and monogamous, indissoluble marriage two indispensable pillars of a free society. Dictatorship is not a chance fact in Communism, but the logical and necessary consequence of its ideology. For strategic reasons, Communism may take on different political forms, including apparently democratic ones, and hide behind varied labels. Already in the 1930’s, the Communist Party launched the so-called policy of the extended hand, in which it showed to the outside world a smiling, friendly face . . .”      and today they call themselves Progressives, among other things, and they still wear a friendly face and promise good things  . . . and they control nearly every facet of our everyday lives.

So has this prophecy also come true?

AUTOPAY WARNING

July 27, 2016

A little “public service”  announcement here:

autopay

My household has been set up with AutoPay for utility bills for many, many years.   We check the statements once in a while,  but occasionally, when I’m on vacation, for instance,  I may be a week or so late in doing the  “checking.”

Do you check that your Auto-Paid bills have been paid?

autopay logo

I don’t care how cute they make the logo.   I found out today that you are dealing with a Robot.

(“Within ten years robots will outnumber humans in the workplace.”)

The robot-software deals with the interface between the bill-paying software and the human.

Yesterday I got a big shock to discover that somehow my Auto-Pay feature had been shut off, without my knowledge, without my permission,  and with no notification and no provision for how to pay the utility bill in some other way.

Robots don’t deal with customer complaints, so I had to wait until this morning to talk to a human being.     She confirmed:  Your AutoPay has been removed from your account.  I’m pretty sure I gave her nice answers and questions . .  .  but I was a little breathless and stressed out while I tried to communicate.

She admitted that the utility company*   had a “glitch”**    last month in the AutoPay section.   No explanation why we weren’t notified until overdue bills were sent out.

THAT’S  your notification?   “Your bill is past due” ???

So that’s my warning.   AutoPay robot servicers are not reliable.    There will be no warning if this happens again.

I had to hang up, call back again,   to get another robot in order to pay my bill, which I did by feeding him numbers.  Numbers, after numbers, after numbers.  I guess that’s how robots talk.     And robots don’t say they’re sorry.

I have to call back again to re-set up AutoPay with another robot.     It will take about two months for the robot to get it going.

Meanwhile – do I guess how much to pay next month?  Do I guess when the due date is?

No,  I plan to bug those telephone robots every two weeks, until I regain my confidence.

Did you catch that earlier?   —

(“Within ten years robots will outnumber humans in the workplace.”)

And we don’t have a choice.

And this is not in the Humor category.

.**  I suspected and still fear that this “glitch”  might have something to do with my refusing a Smart Meter on my house last month.    They are a fire hazard;  they are not UL (Underwriters Lab)  tested for safety;    and they are a health hazard to everyone, but especially uncomfortable to the electrically sensitive.    They are NOT mandated by any state or federal law.  They are part of the global system of “human management” for a “sustainable”  planet – not a good thing!

fire hazard smart meter 400

I will be paying punitive fees each month to receive a digital, non-emitting Meter,  which, while it doesn’t emit harmful RF and EMFs,   is still a fire hazard.  You can Google “smart meter house fires.”    Maybe that’s something else you should keep checking.

Keep a fire extinguisher on hand!

RED-GREEN for Father Hamel

July 26, 2016

Here is Father Jacques Hamel,  (martyr)   Rouen, Normandy,  France:

Father Hamel

Well, he doesn’t look like that any longer.   R.I.P.

(Nous sommes France!)

Bar wavy

Today is a day for anger.   For me.    Good causes for ranting.   Days like today I want to be a Man and put on my Viking armor, pick up my Battle Axe, and DEFEND my family, my clan, my tribe – because no one else seems to be doing so.

The Swedish blood in my veins boils.  Not just because the “Chicago”  of Europe is  now Malmö, Sweden!    Rape and murder capital of Europe.      Not just because Swedish girls are told to protect themselves by wearing bracelets that tell their attackers-from-foreign-lands to   “Be Nice.”

And not just because Swedish girls are now being told maybe they should wear a burka, when going out.  Wear a head scarf if you don’t want to be attacked.   In your own land!    Right in front of the noses of the men and leaders whom their Viking forefathers would be ashamed of.

Pahhhh!      These Swedish men would be afraid of their own Battle-Axe!   And that goes for all the liberal Swedish females who are trying to be  men-leaders.

Bar wavy

A whole violent political movement has declared war on the Western World,  Europe and North America, specifically.     They have declared it many, many years ago.    And since there has been NO response from the Western World,   they have had to repeat their declarations of war many times – and they have had to demonstrate their declaration of war, over and over again.

No, they don’t think we’re deaf.     They think  we’re are weak and effeminate.   We cannot pick up the challenge.      We are theirs for the taking.    And nearly every day we hear of their “Taking”  — with knives, machetes,  bombs,   and guns of all kinds.

Not clean kills either.    I’ve told you before it’s very “messy”  to slice through a  throat and cut someone’s neck off.    It takes practice and lots of strength.   That’s why I showed you photos of the little toddlers being trained to take off the heads of their teddy-bears *. . . .

But I don’t need to show you photos of the aftermath of brutal rapes and beheadings and disembowelments and burnings and drownings and crucifixions.   They’re all over the Internet.

Because they want us to know.

Because they’ve  declared WAR against us.    It’s in their book.

So from now on when I write about these Warriors of the Crescent Moon god,   I will write about them in Green.    Their chosen color.

And when I write about the Deaf People in the Western World who ask us to be kind and forgiving to these Warriors,  I shall write in Red.    I will indicate dhimm-witted people by Red.    (Dhimmi-witted, that is,  because that’s what we subjugated people are:  Dhimmis.)

These Crescent-Moon Warrior Extremists killed Father Hamel today;  terrorizing him and the people in the church,  just as their ancient leader said to do.  He wrote in their book to use Terror in order to conquer **,    and he left them his explicit examples.     These Warriors humiliated the good priest and the people inside,  during the solemn ceremony of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass,    then jumped up on the altar,  then yelled things in their language,  then sliced through Father Hamel’s throat.

And then they published threats of further similar deeds to churches in the UK and in the US.

father burning statue

SOON!   It says.   And that’s our Statue of Liberty on fire.      Because the whole world should be a caliphate of the Desert-Warrior Crescent Moon god.     Submit!!   Or die.   Do you NEED a citation for their authority?      Koran (Surah) 33:36:    “It is not for a believer, man or woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decreed a matter that they should have any option in their decision.”      You don’t HAVE an option.   The Crescent Moon god has decided for you!

And what is the brave response to this threat?

Some political leaders in Europe are asking us not to “make this a religious war.”    “Not to make this a war between religions.”      It’s not.   It’s a war of political and territorial conquest.    And we are being conquered in the current phase of this centuries-old war.

The archbishop of this area in France,  the one who is in authority over Father Hamel and is supposed to be his “shepherd”?

He speaks about his “sadness” at learning of the killing.  And then:  “The Catholic Church cannot take weapons other than those of prayer and brotherhood among men. I leave here hundreds of young people who are the future of humanity, the true ones. I ask them not to give in to the violence and become apostles of the civilization of love.”

Fight back, you young men and women,  with “prayer and brotherhood”?      You want prayer?   There is a young nun fighting for her life today –  also knifed in that church today.  Pray for her!

A Cardinal-Archbishop (of Manila,  Tagle)  expresses his grief,  prays for France,  and then says:      This “unhappy incident will help us understand in what way we can carry out the Social Doctrine of the Church,” he added.

Social Doctrine is needed?

The pope “asks the Lord to inspire in all thoughts of reconciliation and fraternity in this new trial, and to extend to everyone the abundance of His blessings”.

Reconciliation to . . . ?

The man that was put into the office of our presidency  (the US)  and who was raised as a Sunni Muslim in Malaysia said recently:   ““For Muslims across the United States and around the world, this is a time of spiritual renewal . .  .”   as he celebrates a major Muslim holiday.

Oh, speaking of “recently” –

Timeline

Lots of deaths missing from this timeline,  but they were making  a limited point.

“Points”  have to be made about this war that has been declared against us.    We all have to think clearly about this. ***   “Points” are being used to attack us.   Maybe “points” have to be used in response.

My Grandpa fought in World War I.  My Dad fought in World War II.   My cousin fought in the Viet Nam War.      I always wondered when the next “hot war”  would come,  when we were being attacked and killed.

A SMALL ADVENTURE

May 3, 2016

Small.  Inconsequential, really.    But our lives can be a series of small “adventures” if we invest a little time and attention.    Here’s a “small adventure”  from my recent trip to Indiana.

So . . . how interested in baking powder are you?     Ha ha ha ha.     Me neither:  not much.

clabber can

My mother-in-law was looking in my kitchen cabinets one day  (looking for something, it was okay),  when she called out in surprise, “Oh, you buy Clabber Girl too!”    Our  mutual choice of the Clabber Girl brand was one of the few things she and I had in common  (other than her son).

She said her own mother always used Clabber Girl.   That would make it about a hundred and twenty year old tradition!

I had a six hour drive home from Indiana and about twelve hours to do it in.   And I discovered that Terre Haute had a Clabber Girl museum.  Indeed, it was the headquarters of Clabber Girl.     It was easy to find . . .

I told myself to be interested.   Kind of like a “forced field trip”  when you were in school and someone told you where to go.   I’m my own schoolteacher.

Found the factory!

SAMSUNG

This is the real deal:  a whole big factory for making baking powder.

Parking was a problem though.   They had a parking lot nearby —

SAMSUNG

—  but I didn’t know if I qualified as “approved.”      Might not be.    But I had my pedometer attached to my body,  so I didn’t mind racking up a few extra steps.   Eight city blocks worth!

SAMSUNG

I walked past several factory buildings along those blocks.

Anton Hulman, Sr.   Founder.   The Hulman name is prominent around Terre Haute.   Of such details a successful game of Trivial Pursuit is made.    Or maybe Jeopardy. . . .

This is the entrance I wanted:

SAMSUNG

That was some bake shop inside!     Soups,  sandwiches,  and the most desirable baked goods!   And then the museum.

It was huge – and delightful – inside.  The exhibits were made with care, using actual  objects and furnishings from olden days.  And someone kept walking around with a tray of warm cookies,  made with  Clabber Girl baking soda,  of course.

Here’s part of an authentic Pig n Whistle:

SAMSUNG

Yep –  a tavern.   Looked inviting,  except for a photo of a “floozie” on the wall.  I’m not that kind of girl!     Apparently,  everyone knew what  a Pig n Whistle was:   the “boy”  employee had to go down to the basement periodically to bring up more whiskey in a pigskin container.   And to prove he was not taking a nip or two on the way up,  he had to keep whistling so his employer could hear that he was being honest!

A store –  with  ration coupons available:

SAMSUNG

My grandma shopped in a store like this.    Come to think of it,  my great-grandfather owned a store just like this –  although with more meat available.  He was a butcher.

Well . . . here.  Someone sent me an old newspaper clipping —

Vierela's Store.jpg

Interesting?   Well. . . . .        Well,  if you’re ever going to imagine what it was like to live a hundred years ago,   now’s the time,  while you’re in this museum.

Vehicles were prominent displays –

SAMSUNG

Baking powder –  right to your doorstep.

And a genuine Hansom Cab –

SAMSUNG

Sorry,  I’m not too mechanically inclined, and I can’t explain to you all the wonderful new technological  advances this cab represents –  gears and cranks and levers and lower center of gravity for increased stability . . .   but I remember that the driver rode on top – and he was the only one who could open that front door to let the passengers out.    It was the height of comfort and luxury.    I just can’t understand why.

But I can understand this one!!  —

SAMSUNG

Gorgeous!!!   Turns out Anton Hulman, Jr. bought the Indiana Speedway   from Eddie Rickenbacker   –  The World War One flying ace hero!

cl eddie in his plane

You know what the cross decals on his plane are for.     Western Civilization owes him a lot.

I think he’s sitting in the same car that I was standing in front of  —

cl eddie

He loved flying in planes and flying in  racing cars!

(And how about that NASCAR race this weekend at Talladega!!   One man said they ought to have had an air traffic controller there because there were so many cars flying airborne in a record number of crashes! —   So who would have guessed that I would have become interested in auto racing?!)

Well,  you get the idea of the museum.  It was soon time for me to find the Powder Room.

SAMSUNG

An actual “powder room”  !!      Museum exhibit?      Of course I tried the door and went in!

SAMSUNG

Gleaming shiny new —  not an antique!  I think I was glad.

It’s almost time to leave the museum,  but first we must pay some respects.

The Hulman family brought the Clabber Girl company through hard economic times that caused many other big businesses to fail.     No government bailouts then.  Through careful management they came through a couple national depressions and two world wars.

SAMSUNG

One of the Hulman young ladies was in the army, WWII.  They did their patriotic duty in every way possible —

SAMSUNG

Take time to consider this sign.   Everyone participated in the war effort.    It wasn’t fun,  but it was sacrifice for a bigger cause — and Americans thought their country was worth saving,  worth fighting for.

Hats off to you, old man. . .  Mr.  Hulman.

SAMSUNG

I left the museum and began the long walk back to my car,  out into the present-day world.

I won’t call it the modern world;    we are post-modern now.  We have left the greatness and bigness of the whole  modern world far behind.     We are not growing,  inventing,  solving problems,  living with confidence,   celebrating our greatness. . .

But once we celebrated —

SAMSUNG

A hundred years ago, America was great, growing, strong, optimistic,  individualistic, self-confident — and we came out by the thousands to celebrate the opening . . .  of a baking soda factory!!

THURSDAY – “IS THE POPE CATHOLIC?”

March 31, 2016

One week ago – and the scandal is still being “discussed” —

Banner Easterthur

“Is the pope Catholic” – ha ha ha ha  (Not a joke.)

The answer is:  “Sometimes;   sometimes not.”  Sometimes any given pope will believe and practice what the Catholic Church teaches;  sometimes he will not believe and/or practice what the Church teaches.

(Note:  the pope is not the Church.)

And so we have popes who were very good and devout teachers, shepherds, examples, and disciples of their Lord;   and we also have popes who were scandalous and despicable;  and we have popes that were everywhere in between  on the spectrum of pope assessments.

(There is good reason to honestly consider what Catholic saints have envisioned:  that towards the End of this Age,  the pope becomes the dreaded False Prophet, which will lead   [undiscerning]  people into false religious beliefs, and thereby promote the coming Anti-Christ , in whatever manner that will come about.)

And as humans everywhere,  some popes suffered a great deal while in office;  some popes became unexpectedly bad, while others were able to grow in personal holiness, a task given to all men.

Got it?

Any given pope is not “right: just because he is in that office (the See of Peter).

Just before Jesus left this Earth leaving someone to govern in His place temporarily,  He met with the Twelve,  His most intimate, His most well-instructed friends, and taught them some of the dearest,  most precious things they were to do.

It is written that He “breathed on them”  after doing this, given them a specially ordained position among all the followers of Christ that would come after.

Jesus washing feet

This is one of the things He taught.  Not that they should go around with an emphasis on hygiene.   Not that they should copy this physical  action every year during Holy Week.  But this is a blueprint for the heart of the Twelve Disciples,  just ordained, now, for Service in the name of the Lord.

A priest is your servant.

Uh . . .  well, a good priest is your servant.    A  “bad priest”  can serve you only   by administering the Sacraments for you – the Church does nourish.    A bad, sinful priest, if truly ordained,  has consecrated Hands.  Woe to these Hands that do evil . . .  worse than for us who are not priests.

Actually, much more can be said about the meaning of Jesus, the Servant of God, and His demonstrative actions of washing the feet of His Twelve disciples —   newly chosen,  newly anointed, newly ordained  to carry on the saving work of the Church — but that’s the main point here.

We don’t ordain women.  Women have a special, elevated role in the life of  the Christian world and certainly as the foundation of every family –  (if only “modern”  women knew how).

Women have an irreplaceable (and honored) role in Christendom that stems from the reality of the Virgin Mary, the Untier of Knots,  the Un-Do-er of the tangle begun by Eve.

mary the untier

Mary, The Untier of (our) Knots

Women are elevated and respected by devout Catholics, but we don’t ordain women to do the job appointed to males.

The present-day pope,  not understanding this,  washed the feet of some women last week.   Holy Thursday  – a day to deny Church teachings, apparently.

This present-day pope also washed the feet of some non-Christians, who so far plan to  remain non-Christian.   Holy Thursday – a day to defy Church teaching.   (Are Muslims and non-believers expected to work within the Church and to bring Jesus to people?)

And so, on this Easter Thursday,  amidst rejoicing, and joy for the beginning of the Christian priesthood,  if we are to be honest,  there is scandal and astonishment that the leader of the Catholic Church could brazenly and publicly pat himself on the back for denying Catholic teachings.

Representatives of Christ,  prime ministers,  vicars, “bridges” – whatever English word you want to use for the office,  can be very disappointing.     Even so “ambassadors,”  which are we Christian people . . .  very disappointing.

Christ alone is the Head of the Catholic Church.

REITERATION – RECONSIDERATION – RESTATEMENT

February 18, 2016

Or . .   whatever R word in the  title above applies.   (A week of high fever does not leave one with a facility for vocabulary.)    Nevertheless,  I’ve been just wanting to repeat something.

Remember this pair of pictures?

Jesus children cr                  LOGOcr

One is a simple presentation of consistent Christian teaching;    one is a distortion of that same teaching  (presented to us in the name of “mercy”).

One attracts.  One repels.          One is respectful.  One is mocking.

So,  in light of the Celebrity Religious Spectacle in Juarez City this week,  I just want you all to know that many Catholics pray for the conversion of the present pope, from one of these images . . .  to the other.

It’s the business of the Catholic Church to point us to Jesus, and to His Kingdom.

Not to go around border-busting,  blessing old dirty  shoes,  and arranging to have yet another random baby available for a kissing photo op.

Pray for the conversion of this pope and of his group in the Vatican.    Immortal souls are at stake.     One of those little pictures can lead souls to heaven.    The other one cannot.

Just – another R word:    Reject! –   Reject this new version of Christianity.    Jesus said His Kingdom is not “of this world.”

“This world”  is not going to have such a happy ending.   As St. Paul said:   “If in this life only we have hope,  we are of all men most miserable.”    (I Corinthians 15:19)

A THOUGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT

November 21, 2015

If a man says that he didn’t say something,  but a young, passionately liberal media reporter says he said it . . .

. . . did the man say it?

That’s not a nonsensical question.

Today,  without reflecting,  we are more schooled by what we see and hear on the entertainment-news media than by our common sense.

It is a kind of surrender.

2nd MESSAGE FROM THE OTHER SIDE

November 16, 2015

Well, that was an interesting message, not from Western Civilization,  not from France,  but from the “other side.”    The ones who are attacking Western Civilization in the current phase of their centuries-long  war against us.

Here’s a second message, just to drive it closer to home.  Did you hear about this?     In case you can’t read the language as written,  it’s translated right below  —

We are in yr state

The “other side”  has a message for several American locations.   They’ve given us more than a year’s warning.

In one more recent  message five specific states are mentioned:    California, Virginia, Maryland, Illinois and Michigan.

I guess we are their “GOALS.

Whatever can that mean?

(Oh,  the note was held up in front of an identifiable building in downtown Chicago,  just so people would know they’re here for sure.)

VIEW FROM A SPEEDING TRAIN — OCTOBER IN REVIEW

October 27, 2015

Normally,  I’m pretty unflappable.

But I’ve been “flapped”  by a lot of things lately.    It’s not Writer’s Block here at The Spruce Tunnel.   I’m writing a lot.  It’s just that by the time I try to post something, days have gone by because more serious issues have come up.   And I thought recently that these “issues,”  both public and private,   both in my personal life and issues out there,  have all kind of knocked me “off the rails,” as the saying goes.

The whole month of October has been like watching the world go by from the windows of a speeding train, ready to go wildly off the rails.

train tracksI’ll be all right pretty soon.   That I’m posting at all is a sign that I’m hanging on to the rails.

But meanwhile,  I’ve missed a lot.     I’ve missed writing about important personal and historical anniversaries and events . . .    Sometimes I say,  ‘Join me for a walk in the Spruce Tunnel,”  and then I show you pretty pictures from the Tunnel.  But now I’m going to say,   “See those black windows in the little train?   Join me for a wild train ride as I try to catch up with the world before October is completely gone.”

It all started with my birthday, at the end of September.  With my cake, specifically:   (with a darkened view out of those “black train windows.”)

I remember it!      Beautiful, no?    (No.)     “Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.”    Not only was this the very, very tasty, rich chocolate cake that I wrote about previously, home-made for me,   but it was also “home-decorated.”     Yeah.     Beautiful.

It is the memory of this that sustained me through the following weeks.

October is a month of significant religious significance.  Here is a painting of a great battle —

Train Lepanto jammed ships—   wall-to-wall battleships at Lepanto, off the coast of Italy,  not very many of them Christian.   Yet another Islamic onslaught against Europe in their never-ending Wars of Expansion.    Europe won.    Otherwise Europe would be worshiping at the sign of the desert crescent moon god —  the image which got the young men at the time of the Maccabees into so much trouble.

The battle was won with the help of prayers and processions called for by Pope Pius V —  Saint Pope Pius V —  which included a call for prayers with the help of the rosary,  that great retelling of the Gospel and personal immersion in its power.

It is said that there was a business meeting at the Vatican on the final day of this battle, and that the pope got up from the table, walked over to a window, and said with great joy,  “This is not the time for business”  but for great thanksgiving and rejoicing, for the battle has been won.      This,  long before there were technological means of up-to-date communication.   He knew.

Train rosarySo, from the dark windows of that speeding train,  I was aware that October is the month dedicated to the rosary, and to its power.     It’s a serious dedication, meant to deepen our habit of prayer.

Then there was another anniversary that I watched, passing by without notice here:

Train fatima70,000 witnesses present in the fields that day,  and an additional estimated 20,000 who saw the Miracle of the Sun from the peripheries, from  windows in houses in nearby cities;  witnessed by believers and witnessed by very decided unbelievers, scoffers of everything Catholic,  determined to prove that a so-called miracle could be explained away by scientific thought.

But they couldn’t.   Of course we don’t think the sun actually approached the earth on that day,   but something happened that looked very much like it.    It was so much more than an optical illusion,  and given for the very powerful, fearsome mystery of it.    More happened that day to the people, to their clothes, to the muddy fields . . .   but I’ve written about it before, and the story is easy to find on a Search Engine:  October 13,  1917.   And the warnings accompanying the strange miracle.

Warnings which involve the dissolution of our civilization,  witnessed by “me”  as that black-windowed train sped through October, 2015.

Today,   the clear teaching of the Catholic Church has not changed,  but it is very much out of focus —  especially if you get your news from the entertainment-news media on television or through bloggers.

Train st peter'sSt. Peter’s is still there. . . but sometimes those within it can blur and obscure that spiritual authority and that moral voice which ought to be crystal clear.    “Those within it”  took part in a synod on the “Family.”     It was not about the family.    It was about “how far can we change church practice to make it resemble the socialist disruption of the family” — a necessary task,  because  strong,  intact  family units  get in the way of strong, centralized governments.

(That would be the old “divide and conquer” —    Divide the families into individual demographic groups, and then control each demographic group:  men versus women versus teenagers versus children versus babies and above all:  parents versus their own unborn children.    Then make it all “fun” and “modern”   — Promote  sexual fun and liberation,  sexual immorality of all kinds,  sexual envy, sexual perversion, and sex-without-consequences.)      Presto!!   No strong  families!!

(Uh,  you have read the Communist Manifesto, haven’t you?   The Humanist Manifesto?     They told us about all this ahead of time.  They needed to break down society before they could “transform” it.)

Not a pretty picture from out of those black windows . . .   but if the train goes fast enough,  we won’t be too troubled by all this.

I was thinking of removing the Fukushima links from the right-hand column.      Nuclear power plants are an expensive and  suicidal way of getting “power” but no one seems to mind very much.   How about the results of all the accidents around the world,  poisoning, now, our rivers and our ground water?  how about the mind-boggling ongoing radioactive pollution spreading out from Fukushima?   How many October stories told us about the death of fish and mammals in vast areas in the Pacific Ocean. . .

How about a dolphin —

Train dolphin deadPoor thing.    Lots of other specimens that look just like him.

It isn’t only the oceans at our feet:

Train Skies PoisonedMore and more people are photographing their skies above,  stripes of fuzzy white trails, sometimes intersecting,  sometimes curving  (all this against FAA laws);  sometimes analyzed and examined for their chemical and heavy metal components…  But we’re not really allowed to do anything about it.    The Project is too big.    Meanwhile — breathe in that aluminum.  And cadmium.    And barium.    etc.          Shhhhh.

Then I saw China’s  “Practice Cities” —    Little areas built in China, with great care and accuracy,  for Target Practice!

china targetsSatellite view.   Nicely done.    They’re practicing   b* om * bin *  g the Eiffel Tower?   An Interstate exchange?   And then “America”  says “You’d better not use those islands in the South China Sea” — and they did –  and then . . .   nothing.    But three Chinese warships have been invited to a harbor in Florida.   Act of good will.       Inscrutable.

I saw, from this speeding October train,   ongoing acts of violence against Christians and Jews:

Train Joseph burning

I thought this view was “odd.”    Sad and odd.    This is the tomb of Joseph — you know,  Joseph of the Coat of Many Colors?   Joseph,  the Patriarch who saved Egypt and the surrounding Middle Eastern area from the severe seven-year famine.    Joseph,  whom God appointed to be the protector of the Israelites during this famine, and thus assure their continuing existence.

What was odd is that I came across a news article I had printed out several years ago.   Same thing.    Same Islamist hatred against Jewish  shrines.      And other historic shrines and archaeological sites.    I understand  Palmyra lost some valuable historic sites. .  .      The ongoing War of Expansion.

These people are still “in the way”  and so there is a new “meme”  going around.    See if you can catch it from the two following photographs:

STAB -school-lessonsSo you get instructions,  lecture and visual aids.

And students:

I want to STAB

Nasty view from out of those black train windows.   I take offense at this.     Two people who are very near and dear to me,  two people in my own family, whom I love very, very much . . .  are Jewish.

The world, in general,   does not take offense at this, though.     Or maybe they have lost their moral authority,  their sense of right and wrong,   their spiritual strength.

Maybe we haven’t reached a Tipping Point yet.    I wonder about this.

When I went to church this weekend,  I didn’t know that just a few hours later,  others like me would be going to church too,  in Syria.   Only during their Mass,   as people were getting ready for the actual Communion,   a bomb was lobbed onto the roof of their church building.    400 people inside.

The roof held, and only a few people were injured.    Had it not held, it would have been a massacre of great proportion.    People, just like me,  doing what I do.

Here are some words of the report:

OCTOBER 26 – A mortar shell last night hit the Latin church of Aleppo dedicated to Saint Francis, in the Aziziyeh district, while mass was being celebrated in the building. The grenade, coming from areas held by anti-Assad rebels, hit the roof, tearing its dome, but did not penetrate inside the church, . . .   “Bishop Georges Abou Khazen, the apostolic vicar of Aleppo, said that ‘if the grenade had exploded inside, there would have been a massacre.’”

So,  things are getting dangerous,  because that’s only one report of the almost daily attacks on Christians.

I didn’t even want to look outside that “train window”   and see the Invasion:

Death of EuropeA small portion through Europe’s fields.

They leave behind tons of garbage and throw garbage and feces and obscenities at the relief workers:

Mig Iitaly Austria dump

This video and others like it made the rounds in October.

Look what I stoleHe is boasting about the things he stole from the stores in his “host” nation,  the one that invited him in.   On the table in front of him,  obscured by the black frame,  are a half a dozen or more  iPhones.   Proudly stolen.

I take this one personally too —    It happened this month in Sweden:

All your women belong to usThe Islamist is shown hitting the Swedish woman,  then knocking her down and kicking her,  injuring her severely, as it turned out.     The video that this photo came from says:  All your women are ours.”

Want a European video?  I think I can make it happen.  A short one:      It’s here,  if you want to see what happens when you realize you’ve “lost”     —     I think it’s called “Meanwhile, in an average German city.  ”    https://youtu.be/-VJyKRwQHHM

Well,  whatever,     Civilization rose on the Natural Law formulated by the Greeks, and consequent understanding of Natural Morality and Society and Politics administered by the Romans;  then fully developed by Judeo-Christian moral foundations, and brought into being by Christendom.

Toss out any of this,  reject Christianity, for example,  and then civilization – civilized life, as it’s commonly understood — has no leg to stand on.  Anything goes.   Might makes right.     You lose.   Even if you’re one of the Powerful,  because  the Powerful always eat their own.    Anything goes.

But to preserve what is familiar to us:

“Itaque fratres, state : et tenete traditiones, quas didicistis, sive per sermonem, sive per epistolam nostram.”

The operative word being:   sta’te    (two syllables)   —  Stand fast!       (The above quotation from II Thessalonians 2:14)

Stand fast,  hold fast to the teachings that have been handed down to us;  so things don’t fall apart.

So that was my October.    Flapped.

I’ll get off that train now,  and turn to other things, closer to home.   Domestic affairs.   Domestic treasures.     Watched over by Christ the King,   whose feast day we just celebrated.   The King is not absent.   Viva Cristo Rey!

Time to re-watch the movie:  For Greater Glory.    Pretty difficult scenes from that train too.
